| Got out onto the water somewhere around 2:30 today. Had to go and have some laser surgery on my eye today so when I finally was able to see a little bit or I jumped in the boat went out for some R&R. I was going to stop at the 2-minute honey hole but there was a kayaker there look like he was enjoying himself so I let him be. Went out in area of my 3-minute hole and surprisingly the water was gorgeous. I have three rods With Me. One bad tequila Gold sand eel one had a cork with a gulp under it the other one had a chatter weight with dark sand shad. Thought I was going to have to use noise and scent but to my surprise I was able to throw soft plastics all the time. Very first cast bring in a 16 inch trout and I thought great. Well that turned out to be the only keeper the day. I did catch about 8 or 9 undersized fish lost a lot of tails to perch. Thinking about hitting the surf tomorrow for the first time this year |

could be worse, bro.
Going back to teenager, I've had three first casts with specs in that 28"-30" range get the last laugh on me. Been hooked up to 3 trout that size, but the best I've landed is 27.
Even the same with rainbows. Been hooked up to Kenai rainbows better than 30", but my largest rainbow in the net is 27" - and from Texas.
All part of the fun.
The really bright side, you get to try twice a week, but for me, it's still 3 or 4 tries each year. |

Tried hitting the surf this morning but my vehicle wouldn't start. Don't know what the problem is. So instead I went out into the Lagoon. Water started turning brown again today, last 2 days winds out of the southeast. There's some nice trout there today though. I caught two that went around 20 this one at 22 and I had an upper 20s outsmart me. When I got her close to the boat she just shook her head a bunch and then turned and did a 180. Threw the hook. No problem being that I was releasing everything today. |

Big Trout have a way of coming un pinned. That's the challenge and why we hunt them. Wouldn't have gotten big not getting off. I've lost my share for sure.
nice work Z. |
