The only water on our place in Alice we call Sesame Street was in this pothole at the gate.

In spite of Harvey and recent rains the tank remained bone dry. At about 7:30 the game warden came by checked our licenses and shotguns and asked how we were doing. At that time we had seen more game wardens than dove. Later on a few groups of Whitewing showed up Augs went 2 for two then three out of four and eventually got 5 birds. I went OFER O for 3 shots.
Here is our place as we drove in. Most of the brush save for a few trees had been removed to our dismay.

The tank has no water but at least there are sunflowers in the bottom.

Later we headed to Roadkill's spot. The birds were flying near San Pat and Roadkill had finished his limit by 10:30am when we arrived. Augs finished his limit. I continued missing until I finally bagged 5!. I did get my limit of Karbach IPA's however Smile

It was pretty slow going at the deer lease in three rivers opening weekend. We had numerous small showers hit us throughout the hunts. It seemed like a decent number of local birds but not too many migrating large flocks.

This year was by far the "worst" year for dove at my east of Benavides.
I think the dry conditions had the birds hanging around the tanks, which I lack.
But we had a good time with some good friends.

S-zone is gonna open sept14 this yr
sp. WW is sept 1-2 and 8-9....
tank shootin' last yr pretty much sukd, too..
