How's the driving from pavement to 30 mile marker? Any four-wheel-drive needed?

I wouldnt go past 20 w/o 4wd - but I have seen little minivans much farther on low tide . In the last week, I went to around 17 with no slipping or sliding, though i drive a subie outback. awd and very solid on soft stuff. Certainly a lot lower profile than most of the 4wd vehicles down there.

All that being said, driving conditions are quite good.
