I am a firefighter and got off this morning to take care of my property in Portland. I have to report back to station in alice tomorrow morning at 0800. I need ideas on how to secure my boat in driveway. My driveway is between two houses. I have a 17 foot alumacraft center console with a 50 hp Yamaha 4 stroke. I was thinking maybe trailer house ties screwed into ground then ratchet strap across trailer and boat. Maybe put plugs in and fill with some water? Or is it heavy enough not to worry about? What say the brain trust of corpusfishing. Any ideas? _________________ Remember to check your smoke alarms. |

| What's the elevation of the ground where your house is? Is there any friends more upland than you or could you trailer it back to Alice for a couple days... |

We did the water thing with my grandad's boat for Celia. It worked sorta. Boat stayed in place but the trailer cracked.
No body took into account the water weight added by the rain |

It's up high enough not worried about it floating away, more worried about it blowing away.. I lowered the bow all the way down and left the plugs out and filled it with water till it ran out drains. So most of the water is toward the bow and the extra rain won't weigh it down so much that it breaks things. Best I could find, the boat, motor, and trailer weighs around 1100 pounds and I added roughly 200 gallons of water including filling livewells. Using my firefighter math that's roughly 2800 lbs. I'm gonna say a prayer and figure that's why I pay so much for insurance. Things got ramped up and being called in tonight instead of tomorrow morning. Thanks guys for your input and I'll share how she fairs. Be safe everyone and god bless. _________________ Remember to check your smoke alarms. |
