Hi everyone,
I have been away from here for awhile and I was wondering if the big pier at NASCCAD is open and if the lights are working. It's been at least two years since I've been there and last time no lights and I think the end was closed.
My son is getting married this week and he and I had a lot of fun fishing there and teaching him to fish and he wants to take his new wife wile they spend a couple days down there after the wedding.
Thanks for any and all answers,
Mike

Are y'all referring to Dimit Pier? If so, I was just out there this evening. The parking lot is in terrible shape, but the pier is actually open. I went out about halfway, very cautiously in the dark with nothing but a headlamp, and it appears they've made repairs because the lumber and nails looked pretty fresh. Nothing rickety, no missing boards that I could find. And I'm a big guy, so I don't walk on piers I don't trust LOL.

However, they have not done anything about the lights! The structures are all still there but it looks like all the wiring's been pulled. It looks like it would be a fantastic spot if it had lights. Very creepy in the dark though. I'd label it for day use only, or BYO lights!

Mike ... the Oso bridge is a very good spot but the military closes the road off every weekend and at 5pm daily. Dont know why but they just cant seem to stand people being there.

Also the piers around Humble channel and Marker 37 off the Kennedy causeway is good fishing also.
Consider Packery channel a possible spot ... lots of good places to bank fish here if you look around.

Which pier? I fished the long concrete pier that sticks out into the bay a LOT as a kid, it was a great spot where mom felt safer than at the civilian spots.
