Is there any way to find out the location of the wells in Corpus Christi Bay? On a calm day (if there is one) I'd like to try to fish a few. I've googled everything I can think of and have come up with nothing.
Thanks! |

Academy sells the HOOK-N-LINE fishing maps.
The map shows many different spots to fish, obstructions, wells and other information also.

What you need to look for are petroleum/geology maps. I believe you can also find the GPS locations for them from the Texas Railroad Commission. .
I still have the maps from my dad, they are dated from the 70's and a lot of the wells are gone but the shell pads are still there and fishable. Not really conducive to going out in the boat though, they are about 60" by 80" in size on that old blue mimeograph paper.
There used to be a LOT of wells out there, hundreds over the years.
Some of the oldest ones are right on the edge of the intracoastal channel near NAS. |

You can go here and zoom in on the area you want and find well locations.
http://wwwgisp.rrc.texas.gov/GISViewer2/
There is a small circle with an"i" in the middle in the tool bar to the right of "Print". Click on this "i" and a drop down menu will show up. Choose "Wells" and then click on the well you want. A box with GIS information will pop-up. Not really sure how accurate these numbers are for the real old wells.
Good luck,
Jay |
