Thinking about taking my 15 year old son over on the jetty boat to fish this weekend. Any good tips on lures, or other info. First time for the both of us to try it over there. ? Thanks

Frederick Dunphy, you're needed here!

Lots of soft plastics and extra jigheads. Gulps and topwaters, spoons etc. Assuming you want trout! For everything else try live shrimp.

First rule of the North Jetty is wind direction.
Go to the south jetty and face the gulf along the jetty. If the wind isn't coming at least a little from your right, (south) don't bother. You won't have that magic pocket of clear water that makes it such a great trip.
Don't limit yourself to the rocks, either. I've had my most memorable trips wading out 50 to 100 yards north of the jetty and catching trout after trout on spoons. I've also ridden my bike to Cedar Bayou.
Sunscreen before you leave the house. Take plenty of water, snacks, and basic first aid stuff. You are on the edge of the world out there, usually an hour or more from civilization. Stay off the splash zone on the rocks. It's the slick part. Dry parts are ok, as are the underwater parts.
Soft plastics are the key, generally. Fish them close to the rocks.
If you take live shrimp, throw a handful of jetty grass in the bucket as soon as you get there, it really makes their last day on Earth less stressful.
Take Pictures!!!
