I'm taking a trip down to PINS the middle of next week for a few days and was wonder what is the best site to check the forecast for PINS? Plan to camp around marker 22 or so. Thanks for any input.

Here is a list of what I typically look at before heading south, taking all of them in to consideration. Then with each of them I will move the location to Port Mansfield Jetty, if available, for conditions and just average between them for PINS.

Another question, how much wind is too much wind? I've been to PINS once a couple years ago during Sharkathon and the weather was real bad. As I check the weather once in a while down there, it seems winds of 15-20mph are pretty normal. Can you setup a tent and canopy in those kinds of winds? I plan to use the truck as a wind block for the camp.

I also have to drive a bit to get to the beach. My experience is if you wait for a perfect day you will never get to the beach.

This is true, and especially in the spring when the winds can be harsh. I think you can camp in 15's -18's. Not easy, and much tougher to camp in 20+. That said, there were some people tenting on Malaquite this past weekend in 30's. Not sure how enjoyable that was, I truck camped it and it was nice to be out of the wind. In the morning some of their tents were rather disheveled to say the least.

Well so far the trip is a go, next week, Wednesday through Saturday. Looks like some wind but other than that the tides and weather look ok. I'm a newbie to this so if anyone see anything else, please let me know, thanks.

There was enough weed to make fishing really tough around the 25 mile marker. It looked to be less weed within the first 10 miles, but not for sure because i didnt stop. On the up side whiting were plentiful and decent sized. Not a single click on the shark rods though. The whiting were hitting quick so weed wasnt an issue for them, only the big bait rods. Good luck!

Looks like due to high winds on Wednesday, I'm pushing the trip one day to the right, heading down on Thursday instead.
