Anyone using CorrosionX on their fishing reels? I own shimano curados, chronarch ci4 (the one with the spool corrosion issue, ambassadors, penns, and lews. Just wondering if it would work as well as it does on everything else and what impact it would have on mono and braid.

I use the corrosion X that comes in the small squeeze bottle...It works wonders...I dont think I would use the spray, cause it would probably get on the line.

Use Corrosion X-HD and love it. Amazing how it will free up frozen bearings.

I have had great luck with Tri-Flow lubricant for reels, the guy at Bilmore n Sons in Port A recommended it to me a few years ago.

Use ed's red to clean coat and lubricate. I you need more lubrication I still use 3 in 1 or rem oil mostly for pure lubrication. The specialist is really not much of a lubricant but is a great rust preventative. I read that study a couple of years ago and posted it on this board at that time.

Eds red is a military specification gun cleaner and rust preventative. If you are willing to make it eds red it as good a rust preventative as specialist. It contains acetone, stoddard solvent, kerosene, and automatic transmissions fluid. It meets or exceeds all military specifications for gun cleaning and protection. The atf and lanolin bond to the gunmetal and fill in the microscopic pores. Guns will last at least a couple of years without rust with a good cleaning and wipedown of eds red. It's about all i use these days except for extra lube with renm oil or 3in 1.

Ya'll might want to also consider lubing your reel bearings etc with atf. think about the fine gears, specifications, tolerances, etc... in todays automatic transmissions that atf lubricates. I have been using it for several years on my reels and it works as well as all the fancy reel lubes. Most don't know it but is was developed as a synthetic substitute for sperm whale oil for use in WWI or WWII-dont remember which.

Rodandroll does know about weapons and I would listen to him. He may not like pumpkinseed......but it's really a good color. 👍👍🎣
