Yesterday I was working on building some outdoor furniture for my son's for Christmas when around 2 o'clock the sun peeked out and wind slowed down. Decided it was time for a break and hit the water. Was not going to keep any fish and I was just out to play. What I found was that most of the flats produced only small trout whereas the bigger keeper size were in the channels or adjacent to them. Caught trout on tequila, purple, pink, white, and hard plastic mirror lures. Wound up with 5 or so keeper trout out of about 15 caught.

This morning around 10 a.m.Mary and I went to the surf over to Mustang Island. Fishing conditions weren't ideal with very high seas and dirty water. Catching was great however. Caught a 38-inch Atlantic sharpnose shark and three redfish the smallest one being 39". This one was a tad under 40"

All caught on cut whiting from my last trip.

Your perseverance paid off, you caught your bull reds. Just holding it up for the picture looks like a struggle, catching it must have been a battle. Congrats

Just got back from the beach on Friday morning and caught two more Bulls. One was a small guy at 29 and a half the other was 39.75 inches..

hey Luke was back in New Jersey recently during striper season and visited the Jersey Shore. Wasn't able to finish as I was there for my mom's funeral. Thought about you and wondering if you were out there catching stripers

Hey Tom what kind of rig were you using spinning or conventional? Nice pinko there. We used to catch the heck of of those in the Brownsville ship channel. Lots of fun for sure.

Spinning. Been using Cabela's SS80 for years with minimal upkeep. Love them.

I lurk from time to time. Wink Tom, I was up in that neck of the woods around Thanksgiving. Small stripers and monster bluefish in the high teens wreaking havoc. But thats the only line I've wet in a year! Sorry to hear the news about your mother, and I hope you and the family are doing well. Merry Christmas to all!

Tyler, ain't it time for snowflakes on the site?
