I was at our local Academy and they had the Shimano Sahara 2500 on for $39.00, good luck.

That's a super deal.....Bass Pro says they will be selling them for 49 on Thanksgiving day. That place will be super crowded. I'm going to academy.

The 3000 FE is the same price. Is the 3000 FE better for bay fishing? Or 2500?

These reels are all the same price. I have not used this brand before, but this seems to be an excellent offer.

For fishing bays and jetties and those familiar with these reels, what do you recommend?

4000-FE

3000-FE

2500-FE

I am not familiar with the sizes and I am not looking for a device that acts more like a crane than a fishing reel.

Thank you for the help.

I didn't get an answer for which is best for bay fishing so I bought a 4000. It's noticebly bigger than the others. I like the longer crank handle and grip. But it may be overkill for slot reds and trout. I've never tried this reel so can't share experience. Thinking of getting the 3000 as well. The 2500 seemed a little undersized but not sure. Still seems like a great deal.

The 4000 that I have lasted about three years. Landed some big jacks and kings with it... I had a 2500 that gave out at about 2.5 years. I never really dunked the reels, but they got wet with spray from the boat. The one problem that I noticed is that the knob on the reel handle binds up after a while. Even after oiling every trip. Good reel for $39.

I had to go to Portland so I bought all they had in stock. They were all 4000 fe. They only had 3 but it was a good buy. The fellow at our cc store said it was a first come first serve until stocks ran out and no riegn checks were being offered. The 4000 is about the same size as the Stradic 2500 when held
Side by side.

Insider tip: Go to the person in the H & F dept, or any employee and ask for a "More Options" unit, they'll know what it is your asking for and try to order through that. This is a separate process from an online order. It will search all 250 stores and pull their inventory and ship to your house for free in 3-5 business days. Give it try, you might get lucky.
