in the mid 90's, I was tinkering around ocean drive at Swantner Park. an older gentleman was fishing with mullet on a popping cork. something grabbed his line and almost pulled the rod from him. as the fish was pulling line the head came out, shook around for a couple of seconds and then it was airborne!!!! first thought it was a big skippy but there was no mistaking the big body and large scales and silver shine. i'd say it was about 3 to 4 ft in length. it was only about 20 yards out from the concrete stairs. Busted his line once it landed from its aerial display. every ones jaw dropped in shock and nobody said a word for about 20 seconds! lol was very cool to see!! _________________ Wish I was fishing. |

| in the early 70's you would see one on occasion off of Indian Point pier and there were stories of good-sized ones in Nueces bay on occasion, every once in a while one would make it into the Caller Times fishing report. |

I've caught a lot of skippies, but swear I had about a 3 ft'er on in cc bay a few years ago. _________________ dunedawg |

| A few years back there was a school off KRS and they hung around for a couple of weeks. My buddy boated one and we lost several over those two weekends. |

yeah, Capt. Billie Kocian chased that school around for a few weeks, and pretty sure one of her clients finally got one....
I combed the area back then but never found them....
also, at that same time a few years back, two were caught in north nighthawk....they made Tom's paper as well...

| Three or four years ago, after a Thanksgiving cold spell I found a dead 3 footer on the bottom in the ULM near the entrance to Tropic Isles. I goes the water got too cold as there were some cold stunned and killed menhaden and mullet in the ULM at the time. |

| Back in July of 1990, a 240lb 95.5 incher was caught in Copano bay! A month later the same man caught another(in Copano) that weighed 163lbs. So, I would imagine that a large tarpon in CC bay could be possible. |
