Try to fish as the wind allows us. its been 25+mph off and on all week here in Corpus. Seems like all we have been getting is an hour or two of fishing at any one time. Anyway here it goes, Fish the Upper Laguna in 3-4ft of water working the sand pockets and grass lines bouncing a soft plastic just above the bottom. Try the electric chicken colors in good water and pumpkin seed in stained. The top water bite is getting stronger as the wind allows. Try using bone colors. Reds are being caught now on a regular basis along the Laguna Shores road and JFK causeway. Try yaking or wading those areas. During a north wind the sail line guys are having good luck on south side of JFK catching Reds. During an out going tide (over in the OSO) yak, wade, anchor or tie up a boat under the bridge and use that gut to catch trout and the reds are still being caught wading behind the college. there is also reports of slot size drums still being caught along the peninsula and S.P.I.D. turn around in yaks and sail lines. Nueces bay is having mixed reports it seems to be hit and miss. Try the mouth of the river for reds. Reds and trout are being caught over the shale reefs when the wind allows using plastic and spoons. Nighthawk is starting to produce reds on cut bait and Redfish Magics. Anchor up on the east side of the ICW during east or south east winds. trout and reds are being caught on live shrimp and soft plastics. The yellow cabin area is holding trout and reds. Fish the sand pockets between there and king ranch shoreline. live shrimp has worked the best. The Badlands are still holding large trout in the rocks. Try top waters and slow sinkers to get them out. Don't risk going out in the high winds! play it safe and be prepared for the changing spring time weather conditions. listen to your VHF radios and heed the weather alerts. The fish are there, You just have to find them. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
p.s. i haven't been to or received any reports from the Shamrock or Wilsons Cut area lately it should be heating up over there. anyone who has fished there please help us all out buy reporting also for the Deadmans and Kates Hole area's as well....Thx |

Thanks for the update. Been itching to get down there with my kayak but the 16-25 mph winds are keeping me here fishing the river. My last trip 2 weeks ago was a bust fishing Nueces bay. TFTR Capt D. _________________ wishin i was fishin! |

Was supposed to fish this weekend down there and hit Oso and my secret spot. But something came up. I miss living down there where I could go for an hour or three after work, before work or in between yard work.... _________________ To have a right to do a thing is not at all the same as to be right in doing it. - G.K.
