Ran down towards the N. sticks yesterday, and was flagged down by a truck coming up from the Bowl. The driver said that he had picked up his passenger looking for a second 4WD to get his truck out of the dunes. I couldn't help them and proceeded south, and when I got to the Bowl, I saw his truck.......
On TOP of the highest dune there, sticking out like a sore thumb with a huge Texas flag flying. There was a long tow line coming down the dune face and a set of wallows where the first truck had tried to drag him down (unsuccessfully). I am making a trip down this afternoon to see if they made it off, but DUDE, ON TOP OF THE DUNE.......????
That's a lesson learned right there. |

| If the perpetrator doesn't learn anything else, maybe he will learn if he doesn't have respect for nature, she is not going to have respect for him! |

| Maybe he was trying to dodge "La Migra"? They had a unit on the beach SBH and one on PR 22 yesterday. |

Nah!!!... Just some young kid who had more of Daddy's money than common sense, based on the truck he got stuck on top of the dunes.... |

This activity has been waning lately but there are a few peristant ones. Unfortunately even after talking with the powers that be, Nueces still hasn't changed their patrol patterns to match the habits of the abusers.
If they genuinely want to stop this they will have to start thinking like the kids think and adapt to their schedule...not so unlike fishing. |

I get the willies when I think of what my dad would have done to me if I pulled a stunt like that. Different times now...... today it would be someone's fault for putting the dune there. _________________ Gary J

Personally, I don't care for folks messing around in the dunes, with their vehicles. Thought it was illegal. To each their own. _________________ "I do hunt and I do fish and I do not apologize to anyone that I hunt and fish." - Norman Schwarzkopf |

It is. As someone very avid in off-roading (rock crawling), this is something we try to preech about, but unfortunately, today's attitude is "Who give's a squat." Had one group completely argue with me, and let me know how much of an idiot I was, that was until one of them received a 4 digit citation for being in the dunes.. Now they are adamently against it LoL.. |
