Go figure, I had my first trip down to the coast in over a year (Divorce sucks!) and I am now reading about the red tide that has come in. Honestly the trip was out of my budget right now but I didn't get to take my kids down once this summer. I have been lucky enough to have never been down during one of these plagues so I really can't say I know much of what to expect or do. I'm reading some people say that the bays normally stay clear, just stay away from the surf. I'm looking for a little advice while I still can cancel reservations. My boy's are 8 & 9 and I don't want them to be miserable on a trip that I can barely afford. They don't we are going yet, I was picking them up from school with the truck packed and heading south until they asked if we were going the wrong way, so they won't get their hearts broken if we end up not going. The last couple trips down with them have been pretty big busts so I was really hoping to put them on some fish this time. Anyone got any advice on whether to plan another trip when this passes or if there will still be fishable areas good for kids?

As of now, the red tide is confined to Gulf waters. That doesn't mean it will not enter the bays. The high salinity in the laguna tends to keep the bloom out, but CC Bay and other lower salinity bays are often affected during prolonged events.

I did see that posted on Monday. I was more hoping for someone who has actually been on the beach. Actual conditions, aresols bad or not and if anything is catching. The beach cams had shown the water looking great still and hadn't seen or heard of any fish kills in that area of beach. Some parts of our crew is arriving today. Hoping its not as bad there as packery and pins .

Just pulled the plug on our trip. My youngest has a history of asthma and its just not worth the risk. Hopefully it clears out and we can get down there another weekend soon. But if it magically clears up in the next couple of days and the fishing just blows up this weekend, just remember I was kind enough to cancel my trip to make all this happen for everyone else Laughing

I live right across from Bob Hall and the aerosols are bad enough that I have not been able to hang out on the back porch. I helped my son replace a headlight bulb last night in the driveway and it sucked.... Crying or Very sad
