We stayed at the Crane House in Lamar Peninsula as a guest of friends this past weekend and saw all sorts of wildlife - feral hogs, lots of deer, painted buntings, cardinals, tufted titmouses and this cool creature. The boys were inside watching the last minute of the triple crown race when my wife says "There's a crocodile out there come look!" We thought she was kidding and stayed to watch the last part of the race. After all no horse had done that in 37 years and we were watching history! She meant to say alligator but sure enough there was about a 6 footer stalking the does that were eating near the feeder.
A wonderful weekend though no fish were injured or captured during our kayak trip in the marsh.

Lamar Peninsula, where might it be? Seems like I've seen it mentioned before, but I don't remember seeing it identified on a map.

Dale Nelson mentions weather watcher Dan McGee on Lamar Peninsula. It's off the same road as Goose Island State Park just north of the Causeway over Copano Bay. The state park is at the end of Park Rd thirteen on the right when you come to the "T". The Crane house is left at the "T" on Palmetto at the end of the caliche road past where you turn to see the big 1,000 yr old live oak.

Maybe, because I've never, ever been on Copano Bay is why I'm not more familiar with it? Very Happy

X2 on those skeeters over at Lamar, they bite like gators with wings. Great video, Tyler.

Me and Deb lived in the Holiday Beach area for a couple of years just down the road. Nice area just too far from everything.

There are several rental places in Holiday Beach. Me and my buddies rent one there, its off the water but a great cheap place to stay and trailer the boat to the launch by the causeway.
