I've gone wade fishing the last four mornings. You learn many things when you go back-2-back. However this morning the tide seemed much lower than the past 3 days around the same time. As a result I didn't see any redfish schools like I did the other mornings. I say the water was 2 feet & maybe 8 inches off the grass. Is this too low to fish? I was throwing plastics, a gold spoon & a bone colored spook. I had one redfish blowup in the spook but he spit it out. I was thinking about going this evening again but the winds are strong. Does this affect the bite? My spot has the wind at my back so I'm not worried, but I wasn't sure what to use in this wind? Are top waters effective in this wind?
Any suggestions regarding wade fishing in wind or low tide?
I have learned most of what I know about saltwater fishing on this website forum & im glad to be a part of it. Thanks for those who take the time to teach us younger folks! |

| You can catch reds in very shallow water. They were either gone or weren't hungry for what you had. That's my guess for your situation. |

| No, the water was not too shallow. Reds will be in water shallower than their body is tall, but they are more easily spooked in it, and don't always feed, regardless of water depth. |

| you can catch them in the wind. If you want to throw tops, then get someting loud like a she dog. Plastics and a spoon would probably be more productive depending on water conditions. If it is really dirty, then something with a scent like gulp may be better. Reds will get shallow to the point their back is out of the water. I like to look for moving water or current. They will set up on that and grass beds can create a funnel for wind current. Take a look at those spots and sand pockets between the grass beds in high wind. |
