What size hooks are the best for these 30-40+inch drum?

Also, are Circle hooks the best way to go?

Looking for opinions, Ive been using the Breakaway Redfish Leaders that are equipped with a 12o circle hook.. i buy them at the bass pro here in San Antonio.. Just wanna know if there are better options

I mainly use 6/0 or 7/0 circles on my redfish/surf leaders. Have caught 45" reds and 4 1/2'-5 1/2' sharks and cobia on them.

You would be surprised at how big of a fish you can catch on a smaller circle hook.

Absolutely true. I use fairly small ones while drum fishing. Sometimes I use a 6/0 wide gap hook and that works good too. They have been biting consistently in the humble channel recently.

you really need to "like" the Bait Bucket FaceBook page; they have a few instructional videos up on their page that include PRICELESS information and how-to-rig for exactly what you're asking about.....seriously, they answer your questions and show you precisely how to do it....

site sponsors too, awesome...

I like 14/0 circles. The larger hook is easier to take out of those big fish than a small one.

I prefer smaller circle hooks usually 3/0, the biggest I will use at the jetties is 5/0 and 6/0. The circle hooks that I prefer are the Owner Mutu Circle hook that I have only found at Academy, you can tell the difference between the rest because it says "tournament legal" on the package.

My hooks vary from 5/0 to 14/0 circles depending on what bait I'm using.
