ok fellas, I'm looking to purchase a new yak. I'm looking at the pa 14 and the native slayer propel. I love the accessories and the placement advantages of the PA14, but like the reverse option on the propel, but do not like must of anything else.
my question is, which do you prefer, and why.....pros/cons of each. and is the PA14 worth the extra $1200?

I have never been on the native but I love my PA 14! Have you tried both of them? Go to one of the demo days the dealers put on. The PA is heavy but once you get it in the water it is a fishing machine!!! I have never really missed being able to peddle in reverse.

my buddy has a propel, I have not tried it out yet, but I am soon. I typically do not go backwards but sometimes I do paddle in reverse to keep on my drift facing the correct direction without my drift sock. this is the only time that I think I would peddle in reverse. this coming year I will be going offshore, and I know that either would be better then what I have.

There are quite a few discussions between these 2 boats on the interwebs... What it boils down to IMO is the drive in the propel is more bulky, not as efficient as the mirage drive, but as you already know you can go in reverse. Come by the new seaworthy marine store in the bluff and you and I can take out a PA14 for a demo whenever you're free!

I love my PA 14, its a beast to move around on land, but once in the water its awesome. I love being able to stand and fish in my yak. There is also so much storage and the new ones are way nicer. Mine is the older model with the old seat, maybe one day I will upgrade.

I would have to order the evolve... The cost for the complete kit with solar panels should be $2,779 plus tax, but I will have to check for sure.

I had Native Slayer 14.5 and it is not as Stable as my 2015 outback. I think the Hobie is all around a better Kayak so far, very happy with it. Maybe the 2015 Native's are more stable, not sure. The Native's have many well thought out features/storage but so far I am very happy with the Hobie. Why not consider the Outback? The Pro Angler seems to be in a different class than the Slayer Propel.
