Well the time has finally come to relocate me and my family on behalf of my job. I'm going to need some help with places to fish maybe rivers of some sort. I know the two lakes there hold red fish and catfish, but looking for a bass and crappie place. Also thinking of the white bass run this winter.
Any info out there??? _________________ Thanks Bubba |

Plenty of good water to fish, the guadalupe will be your best bet for bass and crappie. In the guad just above canyon lake, you will have white bass runs in the Rebecca creek area. Bunch of crappie and bass there too. Also, the rainbow trout fishery below canyon lake has just started for the year. If you do some scouting on google earth, there are also a bunch of random ponds located around SA, some hidden right off of the roads that will hold good fish! _________________

Ditto on above and below the Canyon dam, but the trout bite is all year long below the spill race, they stock the fish in the colder weather, but some fish survive all year long. Try the retention dams starting below the spill race. I've caught some football sized browns under those little dams.
I lived in S.A most of my life and loved to fish the lakes at the golf clubs around town. They'll run you off, if they see you, but there are some nice bass in those lakes that see very little pressure.
The best fishing in the S.A area is 2 and a half hours down 37 at little known place called the upper laguna madre. That's where I ended up spending every 2 days in a row off from work. Hence the move to Corpus...
Also, that whole stretch of the Guadalupe, from Boerne to the dam, has some good fishing, but you have to downsize your equipment. I have a kayak and spent many fun days throwing roadrunners on an ultra light rig catching panfish and small bass when the river was cooperating. _________________ 1.2.3,4,5. once i caught a fish alive.

When I reach San Antonio I feel like I'm almost there (Laguna Madre)! I've always thought those living in San Antonio had the best of two worlds, no salt air to corrode everything, and a short distance to the coast. |

If you are not land locked(kayak) San Antonio has a lot to offer. There are number of public ponds to fish but most are heavily pressured from bank fishermen so if you have a kayak or bass raider you will have better luck. The San Antonio River has a decent population of bass that can be regularly caught if you put the effort to find where they are holding.
If you want to know specific spots to fish trying browsing the San Antonio Fishing Forum _________________ Work is for people who dont know how to fish! |

I hear Lake Dunlap in New Braunfels is good for bass and panfish. It has limited public access, I believe a kayak or boat will be necessary. There are lots of docks that hold fish I hear. _________________ But you ain't got no legs Lt. Dan, I know that |

"Also thinking of the white bass run this winter."
PROBLEM is if the rain doesn't come more than it has so far there will not be a White Bass run up the rivers just like the last 4-5 winters. It's been a while since the sand bass have had enough water to run in.
PM me your email address - I live in the Kerrville area and am always looking for a fishing friend. The 14 acre lake in my neighborhood (private lake) has produced several 12 - 12 3/4 lb bass. We are waiting for our first Share-Lunker fish. 5 pounders are common. _________________ Gary J
