Around this time every year I notice boats trolling the canals.
How successful are they and what lures do they use?
Never seen one of them hook up. |

| I don't think they are trolling for fish; I think they are letting the mono line get untwisted by "trolling" it behind the boat. |

Don't laugh I would think it would work. I've thought about doing that along the drop off of the ICW. I think it would be effective if the grass didn't eat you up. A rattle trap or billed lure, or sinking plug might be the ticket in the winter. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| Back when they used to stock Redfish in the freshwater lakes we would troll for them with rattle traps and do quite well. |

they troll for specks in florida and georgia using rattle traps and spoons. Its pretty effective in deeper water, especially if you can run along structure like a channel or bridge pilings. if you are quiet enough I don't see why it wouldn't work in the canals. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Yeah I think some of the the bass and trout anglers think if you aren't casting to them you aren't fishing. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

I'll have to admit, I've certainly thought about it. I even bought a special weighted/swivel device to use, but never have taken the time. I'm always throwing a gold spoon or a 2000 jr 'til it's dark thirty! |
