Finally got around to posting a report on our PINS trip 14- 16 Oct 2014. My son and I left Killeen at dark thirty on Tuesday. Made a stop at Roy's then picked up some dead shrimp and made it to the end of the payment by 1300. Driving was great on a flat beach at low tide. Our target species pomp. Made it to the 15mm in no time at all and began looking for some pomp water. It was hit and miss for the first 4 stops. Picked up a couple of pomps and several large whiting. Only spent 15-20 minutes at our first few stops. Found some nice water a little past the 20mm with a wide and deeper gut. My gut told me this was the spot. My son hurriedly grabbed a rod and let it fly and I'm just getting out of the truck to arm myself with my custom-built 12/6 Batson Rainshadow. I tip my fishbite with a piece of shrimp and head to the water; only to meet my son with a larger than average pomp. We hit the mother-load and didn't need to move any further down the beach. Total bag for our 2 and half day trip was 44 pomp and 27 large whiting. Our largest pomp was 21".
The transport.
My son Tim with the first catch at the 20.
My son showing off with another large pomp.
That's me trying for a pomp.
A few more pics as we get ready to hit the road back to Killeen.
Back at the house in Killeen and time to clean fish.
Other than the mosquitoes and the biting flies it was a great trip. See ya on the sand. |

Great report!
I don't know what looks better, the fish or the quality of the water in the background. _________________ "Money will buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail." - Kinky Friedman
