| I would avoid castaways in Port A as well. Went last weekend, ordered a appatizer, waitress never brough it and said "well, the cook must have missed it on the ticket. Ill take it off". I replied "yeah, please do!" lol. wtf over. Customer orders a item, you bring it...... overpriced as well with trashy staff. The reef is were we go. |

I've never been too crazy about Laguna Reef, it's decent but IMO the fried fish is usually overcooked. I've also ordered one type of fish and got their Alaskan stuff instead. Last time I went I ordered the drum and actually got it. For me, homemade is best. Stan makes a pretty darn tasty fry as well. _________________ I like fishies |

How could one mistake a rectangular (section of a LONG narrow fillet of Mahi, so it must be rectangular when portioned) for a whole fish fillet not much bigger than a Perch (aka Bluegill). Are people really that ignorant of fish - DON'T ANSWER THAT as we know the average level of ignorance in the world.
Either that or the restaurant has been buying their Mahi from Prof. Salt's fish tank. _________________ Gary J

A friend of mine had a wedding reception at the upstairs room at the Water Street Seafood Company. I've always thought their seafood was ok and they usually have good salads. Of course doesn't have the view. Can't match backyard fried fish and cold beer.
Feeding a bunch people is always tough no matter what you do. |

Doc's is the worst dining experience we have had in C.C., but we did enjoy watching the fish around the lights! |

Been 4 years or so for us as well. Way greasy even for fried food. _________________ Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience. |

| 6. Its too expensive for the quality of food. The atmosphere is nice, but the food can come out undercooked and it can be very pricey. I like to go there but some days are hit and some are miss. |

| Can't beat the drum sticks at Snoopy's. We occasionally go to Doc's. I like the atmosphere and pretty much get the same thing every time. Crab cake appetizer, salad with blue cheese dressing, and the bacon wrapped shrimp w/ roasted red potatoes and veggies. It always turns out great. The bread is good too. Like I said, I don't stray from my usual and it is always pretty darn good. Laguna reef is decent, but I don't much care for panko crusted shrimp. Just my $.02. Oh yeah...I'd give Doc's about a 7.5. |

| We take fresh catch there and let them fry it. Always comes out great! They use a little panko in the breading so it's crunchy and never greasy. On busy nights the wait sux, but we go for the sunset/view and drinks mainly. Food is not the greatest, but better than snoopys from the limited food I've had there. |

It seems there are very few places in our coastal city with great seafood. Out-of-towners sometimes laugh when I tell them what I believe Billy Sandifer says, "Red Lobster".
I will say the wife and I have been to Skuttlebuts(?) on the island twice and the food was awesome. Atmosphere is a little loud for our liking so our next trip will be early afternoon. It is a little pricey for us so it is reserved for special days.
But from our experience, the food is awesome!
Anyone else been here? |

Just trying to keep this on a Doc's resturant level. However the extra advise on other resturants is good. The truth is I have eaten better seafood in someone else's backyard than I have had at a local establishment. I have had really good seafood in New Orleans and Florida at upward of 40 bucks a plate or more. I don't like doing that at all. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

My wife and I went to Doc's several months ago. When we got the plates my immediate feeling was that I could cook better than that. So why am I paying?
Scuttlebutt's does have good food and will cook your catch. The only problem is that they will no longer cook it Caribbean jerk style. _________________ HighTide

"We cook your catch" is a crap shoot. After the cooks tried to keep my customers catch and serve them perch, I'll never recomend them.
Had I not joined them, they wouldn't have known. It got ugly. _________________ Adrift on the Mother Lagoon |
