Made a trip to Mansfield this weekend....what a great time. Hit the beach at 8 pm....got to the jetty at 1145 pm. Driving was great...very minimal people on the beach fishing....kinda made me rethink the drive....

Hit the jetty and set up camp and had a couple beers and looked at all the stars.

Woke up at 5 am and just sat and watched the sun come up....

Yak ed out baits and nothing touched them all day. No bait fish in the surf. And only had one hit on a gold spoon out about 200 yds from shore on the yak. So we decided to drive up the beach at about 5. Got to the 27 mm at about 630 and set up camp again. Got baits out and drank a few more beers....it was a long day.

Took a nap for about 2 hours and back at it at 5. Had baits in the water at around 6 and then breakfast.

Had one small run at around 930. Reeled it in and whatever had run with it had kinked my leader and broke it. So I tied on another leader and another bait and out it went....

At around 230 or so had a real hard run.....hooked into it.....and boy did she take off.....

And after about 20-25 min fight. This is what came in

Don't mind the hair......it was a really long day...

Met up with the family at around 4, and spent the rest of the day flying a kite and playing with the boys. All and all. I was a happy camper...

What was the water temp. The unspoken cold water event appears to be on the move.

Actually on Saturday it was kinda chilly....don't know exact temp. But then Sunday temp was a little better....definitely affecting the fishing. ...that's for sure.
