Someone needs some training. Pass the SFST and then test you on the PBT? What the hell is he going to do if he gets a reading on the tester greater than .08 when you already passed the former?
What happens if he gets NO reading after testing you for impairment?

Handcuffing the wife is BS too.

Typical Fed LE. Hired for some reason besides brainpower.

so, your wife tried to go into your car where your gun was? was she drinking also?

did he give you a ticket or anything? if he did, you could fight it in court. at least he would have to give an explaination to a judge.

I guess that's as good an endorsement of tourism on PINS/Corpus as one can get. If the lawyers won't go - who am I to chance it???

And that's the reason I don't go down there and I will never spend another dollar down there. Screw em.... I like law enforcement they have their place and most earn their pay check, but for every good one there are 3 jerks right behind him. I think the rangers are something like gs-02/04 level online trained rangers. Very Happy

They put my wife in cuffs for something like that I'm going to jail or getting shot, that's all I'm gonna say. If everything went down as you said, that is some bull poo poo right there.

Had a great day on the pins. until we were almost out was pulled over because we had no front tag. he ask if ask me to get out and come to the back and ask if i had any thing to drink and i told him yes that i had three in the last three ours so he gave me the sobriety test. i past then and had me blow in the machine and i past that. he also had my wife get out and show him her ID and she did while he was doing my test she started to go put her wallet in the car and he yelled at her to come back and she did. he then put hand cuffs on her and made her sit on the ground, there were two other park rangers there and look at each other win he did it. one of them told her he was sorry but it was not his call. he ran our names to find out we do not even have a speeding ticket on our record. I do not know why they want to harass people. he ask if i had any drugs and i told no and he search the car anyway to find nothing.

that is complete BS.....the Gestapo tactics of the PINS rangers needs to be nipped in the @$$.....

I was stopped by customs about a year ago in the intercostal at humble channel. Real gestapo type attitude and line of questioning. "PUT YOUR BOAT IN CLUTCH" sorry, I've been boating for 30 years and didn't know what that meant. Asked for driver's licenses which luckily we all had on us. They asked where we were from, how we knew each other, where we were coming from, how long we had been out...Nothing really wrong with the questions except the tone and manner they were asking would have led you to believe we had a kilo of coke sitting on the deck. Seemed like they were trying to be intimidating for intimidations sake, hoping we would break.

IN contrast I was stopped by a Texas Game Warden a couple of weeks ago. He asked us to open all hatches adn ice chests, measured our smallest fish to make sure it was legal and to show him life jackets. I should have been ticketed because I was short an adult life jacket (i had grabbed a kid one instead) but he let me off. Even before he let me off I had noticed how professionally he conducted himself and appreciated that he was doing his job and still being respectful and courteous.

Border Patrol has even less authority than the cops and feds do, as far as around here goes. Look at the below link for a guideline. I believe the part about cars is pretty close to what your rights are in a boat.

I went to the ranger station and talked to the he'd supervisor and he told me he would watch the video and talk to the other Rangers and let me know if it was justified to treat us the way he did. He seems very sincere and told me that if things like this happen and are not reported he has no idea there has been a problem. Every one that gets harassed needs to report it.

I go down PINS fairly regularly and have never had a bad encounter with those folks. I've heard stories more than once but somehow I rarely manage to get stopped at all. TP&W pulled in behind me and followed all the way to big shell (5 miles or so total) saturday but never so much as got close enough to get a good look at my plate.

The one time I did I was a passenger in a vehicle with no pass seat and had an open container. After a very respectful discussion from both myself and the rangers we were turned loose with little more than an empty beer can and a few words of warning.

I have to wonder why I never have problems with them while others seem to keep getting into these bad situations?

This is the first time i have had a problem with any law enforcement Rangers included. Every one on here that has meet us would agree that we treat everyone the way we would want to be treated. We were going down every weekend for about a year and a half. We always help people if they are stuck and have even gave people gas to get off the beach. I do not know if he had stop someone else and they had gave him a hard time but with that said it does not give him the right to treat us that way.
