I hope so! Or you can always truck them over to Packary and throw them in those trash cans that say NO FISH Carcasses.

Tip from Capt. Mike - cut the swim bladder and they sink quickly. Obvious and logical, but took him showing me for me to get it.

Pressure cook head and bones to feed the dogs. Fish stock goes to fish soup. Crabs can have the guts.

I'm not sure where you are located, but the The POA rules on the island forbid dumping fish carcasses in the canals. I generally comply with those rules because the canals can become stagnant and super saturated with nutrients. Add in all of the dog\cat poop, fertilizer, lawn clippings, pesticides and street run off and the situation can get pretty bad. I take my carcasses to the ICW or the Packery channel where there is good water flow.

On NPI they ask you not to toss the fish carcass in the canal. Some of the canals have poor circulation and oxygen levels are low.

I have the biggest hardheads around feasting on carcasses. I rip out bladder and throw it to gulls and the rest sinks like Mike said.

I'm in the canals in the Bluff. I've been catching supper during lunch O.B. If you would come out of the a/c once in awhile you would know. Lost another lure to that mysterious line snapping fish again. I use to take the carcasses to Laguna Shores after I was done filleting them but since we moved to a canal I thought I might be able to say a trip out of the house.

Flour bluff has two seperate canal systems one much smaller than the other the smaller one being at the very end of laguna shores.

I use them in my crab traps. That's recycling.
