Well, after my long anticipated trip with my Dad to the N jetty I have a report. Not much of one but still something. We took the 8am jetty boat over and saw numerous fishermen already coming back. Some stayed the night and some took the first trip over. Most of them had nothing to bring back and they said not much was being caught. That wasn't the news we wanted to hear. With that we headed out to catch some fish. The weather and water was very nice today. The water was nice and green on the channel and surf side. THere was a decent amount of weed coming in on the channel but hardly any on the surf. I really wanted my Dad to catch some fish today but he got skunked. I ended up catching probably the biggest whiting I have ever seen. A real nice speckled trout,a big sheepy,a jack and a sea turtle. Had a few blow ups throwing top waters close to the sargassm. on the channel side. I kept seeing fish smack the weed. There was also what appeared to be a taping of a fishing show. Two guys decked out in sponsors gear on a sponsored boat with a camera man working the jetties. Poor gus weren't catching a thing. That seemed to be the story for most of the people I spoke with. I did see one over sized Red,and a keeper red. The only other fish I witnessed others catching were ladyfish and a small flounder. Spending time with my father on the water was great. I hope to do it again real soon. We will be trying to find some reds next time we come down because thats our favorite fish besides snook(I grew up in Florida catching them). Thanks again to all the helpful members of this board.
