Is there a channel in nighthawk that goes from the icw all the way to the back side of the island?

Several. One by marker 69 and another by, I think, 79.

Thanks. All the satellite map views look like the channels stop once you get past the spoil islands. I'm taking a bunch of little kids out on Saturday and looking for a protected shoreline to park the boat and let them get out and explore.

Watch the kids closely.......... from recent personal experiences, snakes are very active right now on the island and KRS.

You can do it at marker 69. The channel is on the north side of the cut very close to bank and the little pier that juts out. Its very narrow but pretty deep. You can idle through their normally depending on your boat. Once through to the other side it does get shallow but most boats can get through even at idle. After you get through turn southwest and it will get deep enough for you to try and get on plane. All of this is good unless its a low tide. There is a very shallow sandbar in the middle so go slow. If you don't know where that bar is you will hit it.

Do be very careful about snakes. They are active right now.

Thanks for the replies! Ive got a tunnel V so I can run in about 18" loaded down. I might try big cove instead if it's not too rough out.

When my kids and grandkids were young we used to take them to nighthawk all the time to play. Went thru at 69 then went NE toward the big sand dunes there. They loved playing in the dunes, and water is shallow enough for them to play in without having to worry about them. Often took our yak for them to paddle around in as well
