This afternoon, Academy in Portland, had a pretty large quantity in stock.
The bad news, two box limit, so take your wife.
Federal was $2.29 but almost gone.
CCI was higher, don't remember the price, but quite a few on the shelf.
Something is better than nothing, good luck.

I bought some Federals a few months back at Academy and thought it was a reasonable price. When we were shooting I actually looked closer at the box and it was a 40rd box so not as cheap as I thought per round.

Thank god i seen this coming i bought 40,000 rounds right before this all started. @9.95 for 333. I can't see why 22 is so hard to come by 223 and most every thing else has started to show up. If i built 22ammo i would be running 24/7 and opening more shops

Because at one time it was a very cheap round to shoot. They are great to go out and burn 200 - 300 rounds for $10 - $12 bucks. The guns themselves can be cheap Pretty much everyone that has a gun has a couple.

Thanks for the tip and location.

22 ammo is a sore subject for me! I did not see this shortage coming so didn't have much on hand when it happened. I've since been able to score a box or two but been reluctant to let my daughter shoot it (she loves to shoot) because the lack of anymore. I can't stand the hoarders or price gougers!!!!

Now you really want to go on a search try and find some "reasonably priced" 22 mag ammo! Crying or Very sad

Because guys like you. Laughing

As for availability, I haven't had much trouble buying pretty much anything here in SA for quite some time. We don't shoot much though. Once Academy started putting a limit on the boxes things greatly improved. They got a big pile of a bunch of stuff in there now behind the counter so I don't bother stocking up I just go buy a box or two whenever we need one.

Can't you just shoot a BB gun instead? Can't seem to find the .22 LR appeal?

It's the new fad for the zombie/teotwawki/shtf preppers. When they drove the price up on .223 and 9mm somebody put the word out that 22lr is cheaper and you can stock more in less space, weight and all that. Hit a few of the nutty internet forums and it's all over them then multiply that by every googler who just saw a TV show and thought "prepping" was cool and you end up with ammo shortage. Funny most of them never stock up on other stuff that's more important, they run to Academy and buy up all the ammo and then get a pile of canned food or drive up the cost of MRE's on ebay and call it done. My kids used to love MRE's on camping trips but I don't buy them anymore, once the prepping got popular you can't even find the expired ones for a reasonable price anymore.

some yrs back, a possum skin brought a dollar... a box of 22's was $1.09... so we skinned lotsa possums... hated those nasty things , but a buck was a box... Rolling Eyes
don't target shoot a lot, so a box is good for awhile...

I hear you. I used to buy 2 cases of good MRE's before hunting season. They are great for duck hunting. I havent season any that are not out of date at a reasonable price in maybe 7 - 8 years.

There were something like 3-4 million firearms sold between 12/2012and now...that many new shooters is overwhelming the ammo supply.
