Hoping to head down to Corpus this weekend, weather looks like its going to be good from what I can tell. Hopefully I can catch some fish (any fish) taking the wife and kiddo she's been bugging me to go fishing so I wanna put the smile on her face.

Will be close to BHP, I in another post looked like someone said Pac Channel/Jetty was closed? Any heads up on that? Also might consider going over to RedDot (unless another is recommended in the area - Im still new to the shoreline around there usually go offshore).

I normally get some fishbites, and mullet, what shrimp typically are people using (those little tiny whole ones? I probably am doing it wrong but they seem to fly off the minute I cast them lol) Any tips?

Thanks and hopefully weather holds, water is good and can catch even some whiting to make a taco or to to put the smile on daughters face Smile Regardless if we catch anything I'm sure she will have a blast.

Packery channel is open. The area under/around the bridge closed. It is private property and people were just littering everywhere.

Consider maybe Oso pier. Find them online or Facebook. They have been posting pics on FB of big uglies being caught. Shouldn't be nearly as crowded as other places.

until now Very Happy I would say anywhere you can get a line wet will be good. this little cold front hasnt dropped water temps to bad so by this weekend fish should be active

Yea unless you wanna be around a lot of madness at RedDot/Cosway.... Oso pier would be solid place to consider.

The uglys are still running pretty good and would have to agree with the above post....water temps are holding....I think we are going back up to upper 70's this weekend so it should be good.

Thank you for the tips people, I'll look into Oso if we get to head up to the pier, not sure if they want to stay solely at the beach and BHP incase the kiddos get bored and just wanna play in sand ya know.

Oh quick question, does Oso have a bait stand with it and prices to use the pier? Sorry Im only familiar with BHP and RedDot so just wanna make sure I have everything or access to upon arrival Smile

I normally just get a bag of shrimp from HEB or Walmart, never had a problem catching fish with them.

oso carries bait but its not a stand per say. your better off getting bait from red dot/clems, causeway the usuals and then going back to oso.
I personally dont fish oso (have tried twice) and each time we have gone out at night and semi ick weather (wind) and I about had a heart attack. I know the old girl is strong and stable (in my head) but just the build of oso gives me the creeps like its gonna fall apart in 2 seconds or something? with that said BIG fish have been pulled up from there on a consistent basis. The new owners are super friendly also. They do have weird pier hours, i think till 3am on weekends not sure of opening time though.
also not sure on your kids age but there are also a few gaps (might be fixed by now) on some of the railing at oso so keep that in mind.

For bait...I would recommend Roy's Bait Shop off SPID and Rod Field rd...they have real good dead shrimp..but they close at 6pm. After those hours..try The Bait Bucket in Flour Bluff pass HEB on the access rd.

Red-Dot and The Cos-way will be packed to the rim this weekend...you may want to try Marker 37 pier...it's great there and not as much people.

I have been seeing people still fishing under the bridge. I didn't see anybody run them off yet. I am sure if you get caught there will be a fine or something.

signs have also been ripped down at the bridge so that means its fair game and i can play stupid right Wink

but in seriousness 37 is a very nice pier, fish the backside just watch out for oyster beds. And if your lucky the very end will be open and you have a whole corner of possibilities Smile
