| Nice catch! I'm just curious how you fix them. I just used to catch and release them, but I kept a couple and grilled them and they were great eating but my wife just likes fried fish. How doo they fry?" |

Thanks, Stan, for posting. All were caught on tequila jrs. The 2 smaller ones had crab in there bellies while the bigger one was engorged with sand eels.
What was fun was that 4 times while retrieving my lure I saw a mullet jump. I reeled in real quick and casted toward where I saw the mullet. 3 of those casts resulted in 2 reds and the 27" trout.
As far as how to fry them that's Stan's forte. I like them on the 1/2 shell or simply sauteed in butter. |

Good call on casting to the jumping Mullet. Mullet aren't everywhere in the winter and when you find them it's good to stop and throw lures in that area. Capt. Billy taught me that a long time ago surf fishing for trout on the winter. Thanks for the picture, IMS _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |

| When you fillet them there will be red on skin side, take a real sharp knife and cut it off. Take the fishy taste out. |

This is what I am talking about. We were fishing in early January of 2002 on a cold day and I saw Billy toss into what we would normally consider water too shallow to hold trout during the winter in the surf. I looked over and thought Billy had a nice fat redfish only to find out it was a fat trout. I think it was around 28.5 inches but it weighed 9lbs 4oz. I asked him "Why did you throw on that bar?" He said "Cuz I saw mullet jump!"
