Looking for a good wading jacket. Simms at Roy's for $299+ vs. Frog Toggs Pilot Guide jacket for $100. Seems like a no-brainer. Anyone have experience with either brand?

FWIW....I recently went fly fishing in Idaho and Simms is what all the guides wear. They all swear its the best.

I'm also looking for a GOOD wading jacket. Last year I was thinking about the Simms G3....but I think it's close to 400 bucks....still haven't pulled the trigger on anything...and I need one!

I just ordered a Frogg Togg Hellbender for $79.00 and I'll post a report. They were given a good report on another site.
Now, with that said, ordered what you can afford Simms is supposed to be the best. But I don't wade fish that much anymore. I'm about to turn 74 and long wades and mud is to much for me these days. But I bought mine for Surf fishing. Good luck!

I have had the Frog Togg for about 4 yrs. now and think its a good value.
It may not stand up to heavy use, but has served me well.
Has way more pockets than I need.
Think I got mine at Sierra Trading Post.

I use a Simms wading wind breaker $175? Then layer up underneath. Cuts the wind and repels water excellent.

I bought a hodgeman on clearance at academy a couple of years ago for $30. It's been great so far. It cuts 100% of the wind and my elbows stay dry even when the occasional wave hits them.

Wifey bought me the Frogg Togg jacket for B-day a year ago. Love it. Good quality and functionality. < half the price of Simms and just as good IMO.

take a look at the wading jackets made by Wright and McGill. I believe they call it the bighorn (?) but I could be mistaken. Have been wearing one for a couple years now.
having said that, I will be retiring that jacket when my Simms jacket arrives. Would still be using the W&M if I would not have gotten such an incredible deal on the Simms.

This^^^^
Can't beat Simms when it comes to wading stuff. Expensive but worth every penny on those cold windy days.

The Magellan wading jacket is surprisingly effective and very affordable

I have a Cabelas wading jacket which works very well. I can't attest to the reliability as I only use it occasionally.
