Went out in search of pompano, and of course I get damn near everything but pomps.
1 23" red
4 drum 14-17"
13 whiting over 12"
alot of smaller whiting, and 2 skippies
Got my 1st red on my breakaway LDX. I feel like im cheating with such a big rod, but its got the lenght to get baits out there pretty far. Weed wasnt much of a problem till around 5pm. Plenty of mullet around, water a little chilly with the NE wind. Think ill dust off my waders next time out in the surf. I used to throw whiting back or use for cut bait only untill I fried a mess of them up a month ago. Its between trout and flounder to me. We fished 1-6pm

| Appears that you do more than just the bay! But, as usual, you find the fish. Good catch. |

| Not only are whiting tasty and a breeze to clean, they are about the easiest thing to catch. 2/0 circle hook, fish bite, and wait about 2 minutes. |

I like to mix things up in the fall/winter. Hoping for some bulls soon and pomps. |

| Looks like a good day fishing. The first time I had whiting my dad had caught some in the surf just before we left to return home. I bugged him so much about eating them we had to stop at a roadside park and fry some up. Up to that time, it was the best fish I have ever tasted. I'm hoping pomps will be around later this week. It's a shame to say but saltwater fishing on and off for fourty years and I have never caught one. Glad you had a good day. |
