My brothers and I gathered on Monday morning for our annual surf fishing trip and I could tell from how the day began that this was going to be a trip of a lifetime.
We got settled in and headed down to the beach after lunch for a little surf fishing. The weather was warm with a nice breeze out of the southeast. We immediately got into non-stop action and David landed this nice 27" red.
The fishing was incredible and we ended the day catching 16 slot reds. We kept a limit of 9 and headed in.
.
Tuesday was another good day as I quickly landed this 30" red.
A little later I landed another 30" red that looked like the twin brother to the first one.
We finished the day with 8 slot reds and released the two oversized ones.
Wednesday was a bit slow with the passing of the cold front. We ended up catching 4 slot reds on Wednesday.
Thursday was our best day ever. Our brother Rick arrived just in time for all the action. Robert got things started with this nice 31" red.
I followed up with a nice fat 30" redfish that weighed in at 10 pounds. All fish were caught in the first gut on live and cut mullet.
We caught a total of 26 redfish for the day with 4 oversized bull reds. Robert caught two more bulls that afternoon. The first was 35" long and weighed in at 14 pounds.
He followed that up with the biggest fish for the trip. This 38", 20 pound bull took the prize for the largest fish.
Friday was very slow due to an unbelievable amount of sargassum rolling in. It was almost impossible to fish but we did manage to catch two slot reds for the day.
Saturday morning started off with another cold front passing with strong north winds. The sargassum slowed considerably overnight and we caught 8 more slot reds. The picture includes the two from the day before.
Overall, it was an incredible trip. We ended up catching 66 redfish for the week. We had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year! _________________ Longhorn |

| Nice days if "catching". Met some teamoso friends today and nada. Current was whipping to the south. No weeds but hardly any bait. Came home before clouds broke up. |

Awesome! Good thing the NPS didn't have control over that beach during the shutdown. _________________ Like Corpusfishing.com on Facebook! |
