We've got a tropical storm in the Gulf...supposedly headed for LA/Miss./Ala
coast. Our weekend cold front is expected to shove the storm east of Tx.

I wonder how that'll affect the fishing this weekend. I'm planning on hitting the surf come sunup on Saturday.

I was hoping we would get some rain out of Karen and the front. Maybe a little rain from the front. I hope it doesn't do any damage, wherever it goes.

it seems like this has happened last year and the year before - storm in the right place in the gulf and a cold front blows it away/

not that we need damage, but it sure is dry

May get some wave action and/or tides to the dunes.

At least there won't be anybody on PINS to worry about.

42020 is showing 2-4 ft at ~5 seconds right now, so those are prime conditions. Further out, it looks decent (but building) through the weekend.

W CENTRAL GULF FROM 22N TO 26N W OF 94W-
1115 AM EDT THU OCT 3 2013

TODAY...E TO SE WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 2 TO 3 FT.
TONIGHT...E TO SE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 1 TO 2 FT.
FRI...S WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT.
FRI NIGHT...SE WINDS 10 TO 15 KT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT.
SAT...SE TO S WINDS 10 TO 15 KT DIMINISHING TO 5 KT LATE.
SEAS 3 TO 5 FT.
SAT NIGHT...E TO SE WINDS 5 TO 10 KT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT.
SUN...NW WINDS 15 TO 20 KT. SEAS 3 TO 5 FT.
SUN NIGHT...N WINDS 15 TO 20 KT. SEAS 5 TO 6 FT.
MON...N WINDS 15 TO 20 KT. SEAS 4 TO 5 FT.

Depends on where your charter takes you, but I would worry more about the north winds than the storm. It's likely to go east from us, and the waves it sends will be pretty long period. The increasing north winds will bring much more of a chop.

The trip is Saturday morning before the front so hopefully well miss the north wind. I have no idea where Captain Murphy will be taking us but I sure hope it'll be on the secret fishing hole! Laughing
