Howdy everybody, seems like we just can't catch a break from this rain and this wind and these storms and seas. But Lord knows we need the rain, so that will just have to be that.
Went down the beach today just to get out the house, and figured I'd post just a couple pictures. The driving is nonexistent, the tides remain high and the wade gut is 300ft wide of storm wash water totally filled with rotting dead weed that is moving at 6mph downcurrent.
I sure love these stormy, wild, unruly days on Island...
Finally went beachcombing a bit, and while nothing found was more than trash, I always love to poke through it all.
Been out there a while....
Beatdown committee needed...
Thought this was cool....the float was attached to the homemade lashed hook...the leader was the bitter end left hanging to the main line...
And one light truck tire and wheel...
And strangely enough, a lot of Chinese/Asian food products were washed in...
And one toothbrush.
A carton of eggs.
And the ever present laundry soap...
A bunch of coconuts.
Some "JAILHOUSE REEBOKS," HMM....from County??? Lol....I bet ain't none of ya'll worn those a time or two eh?
And a real set of reeboks, albeit Adidas.
And some very appropriate stickers.
Some morning OJ.
Some exceptionally pretty and healing goat's foot.
And the grass that I always find so amusing. It grows on North Island and I can't help but wonder if Old Dunn himself helped get it going in those parts so well....one drop of rain and bam...it's there.
Anyways, I guess that's the trash report. Sometime we find Ice Age Mastadon teeth, the other 99 Percent of the time we find a bunch of trash that really gives us an idea of the state of our Gulf. But who knows? Ya gotta go look. Happy hunting and stay dry,

Thanks for taking the time to post the report and pictures. I like your time delay on some of those.... _________________

Thanks for the great pictures. It appears that there really wasn't a lot of driving room up against the dunes. |

Check HEB or WalMart Luke....they have a section devoted to toothbrushes, some quite reasonably priced. ...as for the the jailhouse Reeboks TT, find the other one and I think we could make a deal. |

A awesome beach report and photo's. What a array of junk or stuff people leave behind or comes from ships. Our jail house shoes aren't that good. |

TFTR Sad that we can never catch up with the trash. To many people just don't care. _________________ Protect our treasure PINS |

I found a hook exactly like that one tied together and held with yellow cord like yours. The only difference is that the one I found was inside a Redfish I caught a Deadman's Hole! I didn't find the hook until I was cleaning the fish at home. The hook had been in there so long that the skin and bone of the Redfish was already growing around the hook, indicating that it had been there for some time. _________________ HighTide

Isn't that something? A buddy of mine messaged me with a pic of a hook and float just like the one I found, said he found it about 3 weeks ago on PINS. I honestly have no idea how you would fish that setup, with the hooks held by the float "upside down" on the surface and all. _________________ Protect Padre at all costs for future generations to use and enjoy and never forget our freedoms aren't free.
