Welcome to the site. There is a lot of good people here who will be willing to help out.
Take the 6 year old to the surf and let him go to town on whiting. The bigger ones pull really well for their size and they are great eating. Plus the activity is usually consistant enough to keep kids interested. Wade out to the first sandbar and throw pink stips of fishbites tipped with a small piece of shrimp out into the next gut is about all you need to know. You will catch whiting, pomps, reds, skipjacks, black drum and several other species when the water is nice. Artificials or live bait will catch trout when the water is clean but that is a lot more work and slower action that may bore the kid pretty soon. Good luck and enjoy these precious years with the little one. They don't last long. |

Six year old boys are a fun age. They don't let nothing get past them, they are quick learners, and most of them can find the caps lock on a computer keyboard.
But seriously....WELCOME!!! _________________
