I don't leave unsecured items in the truck in Corpus.

If I'm going to leave the truck unattended I strip out everything and put it in the garage. I only take what gear is going with me in the yak or when wading.

If the wife is along or the truck is loaded down with beach gear we take turns sitting in the car while the other goes to the bathroom or whatever.

Good friend of mine lost his T160 while taking a piss. Two locks cut, off the rack and out of sight in under two minutes in the middle of town during daylight. At the FB Whataburger. . Embarassed

I try my best to never leave anything in the car, of course, but when that's not practical I put as much as I can in the glove box and lock it. Things that can't fit I do my best to hide. For example when we're fishing the surf I move cell phones, wallets, etc to the glove box and lock it but my purse won't fit, so I'll conceal it under trash (it's usually just random paper/receipts not nasty stuff) in the plastic grocery bag hung around the shift.

I lock the car doors even on the beach when we're close by... it'd be way too easy for someone to just drive by and grab something while we're distracted with a catch or something. I keep the car key hooked on a leader connected to my swimsuit.

It's impossible to make your house, car, etc completely theft/burglar proof... so I just try to make mine the least desirable house on the block, or car in the parking lot, to break in to.

I've been pretty lucky so far but I dnt leave anything out to tempt anyone put everything in the cab when I leave the truck and when going out on the boat someone's always got an eye on th boat when we have to stop for any reason. I carry an old .45 with me when I wade fish in my fanny pack and I'm always checking to see if anyone pulls up to my truck. There would be no way I could get back in time if someone was to break in while I was out wading but the .45 helps me reach out and touch someone.
