Does anyone know where I can get fresh local catch fish? I usually go to Laguna Reef for fried Drum, Flounder and sometime even Trout but I'd like an alternative.
Thanks!

My family likes Jay's out on the island but we haven't been there since they moved into the new building. Fish and shrimp are fresh and not overcooked. Good sauces.

What we can't find is decent Cajun style food. I know there are places that claim to be Cajun, but I have yet to find any that back it up.

Thanks y'all! I didn't know that Scuttlebutts or Black Diamond had fresh local catch. BTW, Black Diamond has a killer bisque.

The only fresh local catch would be Drum and maybe Flounder or commercially caught snapper. Unless you catch your own and take it to a restaurant that will cook it up. Trout and Redfish are not sold commercially in Texas. Well that depends on if they buy off the blackmarket and some do. It would be nice though, but the Redfish wars took care of that years ago. Although they do ship Reds from Louisiana.

I don't know what scuttlebutt's own fish is like, but we take snapper and grouper there pretty frequently and have them cook it up. They do a great job on fired fish in that context.

Riofrio, I'm with you. Drum is one of my favorite and much better than red in my opinion. Thanks for the info IMS

IMS- although they are not locally "caught", this is where most upstanding restaurants get their redfish http://coppershoals.com/index.html

Just what I want to do, go out and eat farm raised fish. It's just not natural. Enjoy. Sticking my finger down my throat. Very Happy

If you are in the downtown area, I would suggest the Railroad Station (close to the federal courthouse).

Really good, consistent food. Great fried black drum.
