we have some idiots in this country...

cut the snapper harvest because they're in danger, but go destroy huge portions of their environment. It's sickening.

what's really amazing is the typical government plan for ANY destruction of habitat, man made or not is the exact opposite of this. dealing with some of the regulatory agencies to work on crude oil storage tanks, I had to wait until the birds were no longer nesting under the upper rim of the tank so I wouldn't harm their nests...some kind of swallow that there are how many million of?

red snapper and oil rigs? just blow that poo poo up. Rolling Eyes

Wow thats sad. Those guys would fit in perfect with the supervision out here. Pretty stupid blowing up the rigs when there are alternatives.

That's alot of dead snappers. IMS you are right the government should do a better job at who they pick for supervision posisitions. lame , lame, lame.

As horrible as this is, it doesn't come close to the destruction of some commercial fishing industries. Anyone that has fished the Gulf and trailed a shrimp boat as it culls its catch, knows how many 10's of thousands of fish one shrimp boat kills in a season I love shrimp but it sure is caught at a great expense to fish populations. Just imagine how good fishing would be in CC Bay if there was no shrimping. Last I heard, farming shrimp was not cost effective yet. Maybe some day.

I don't think I want to eat that 75% of table shrimp if it is coming from Asia. But I can see how that would influence prices around the world. I'll stick to fresh catch from this area, if I can.

Why is this surprising, it's the Chicago way! We gulf states dare to vote red and we will pay the price. We already know that the true conservationists are those who enjoy hunting and fishing. We take are of the things we love. The progressives use conservation as a way to get gullible people to back them and then they pull this kind of foolishness. The national news wont cover it because it reveals who the progressives really are. It makes you sick at your stomach, but it's how they operate.
