|
|
My buddy is coming in from out of town to take me fishing offshore tomorrow and I was just asking for the any tips. I checked the waves and they should be no bigger than 3 foot. I have been seeing pictures of sail fish, king fish, and ling. I need some pointers before tomorrow afternoon.
What kind of bait is everyone using?
Are people trolling or just casting near the oil rigs?
Just give me anything you got please |

| I appreciate the two replies. But I guess I was looking for more details than that. Is there any medicine to take to help with the throwing up? Is trolling the ribbon fish what the guys on Kayaks do? |

if you can find some, get ginger pills... it's the best natural thing to settle your stomach if you get sick. ginger snaps also work, but not as concentrated.
rig some ribbon fish with a regular J hook through the jaw, and a couple treble hooks every 6 inches or so down the bait.. you can google ribbon fish rigs and see some examples onlinoe. |

One dramamine the night before to get it in your system and one in the morning has always worked just fine for me.
Ribbonfish trolled or freelined out the back while at anchor will get the kings if they are around.
Ling/cobia will most likely be an opportunistic catch - they like to surface and investigate. Have a spare rod to throw something to them on and get ready to hang on.
Here's the one I caught on last years Corpusfishing Offshore Trip / CCBobbers Memorial Trip.
