I dunno guys. People spend a lot of time on these boards-- I know I do. I enjoy reading the reports, getting a little knowledge and even the occasional funny anecdote. But when something starts spilling onto multiple websites and people are in attack mode everywhere, it worries me. Character assassination-- whether the facts are true or not-- does not belong in a forum where you get to sit behind a computer screen and anonymously annihilate someone (anonymously for the most part--- I know alot of folks on these sites know each other well). We should all be better than that. We all just need to step away from the freakin keyboard every once in a while. Rolling Eyes

Yes we don't know the facts so I choose not to condemn or exonerate until the truth comes out.

There was alot of first hand info on the other forum and also direct question asked of the boat owner. None of which he has responded to other than the original response as to himself being victimized. Several pages have been deleted and I was banned. Told I was sponser bashing. Didn't thing questions and witnessed events were considered bashing. Appears that sponsors on that site are held to a different standard than the rest of us folks. At any rate TPW is currently investigating and im sure they would welcome anyone else's first hand reports of this event and any prior events.
Sorry for the rant, I don't usually post and get caught up in the drama but this individual has been reckless both before and up to this event. The truth will come out and hopefully before he is involved in something even worse.
Again apologies for the rant and I do enjoy this site.

In the first pic, the boat in the back looks like some sort of rescue boat. They have what looks to be a backboard, etc. I'm just curious if anyone knows what this is. I've never seen it around before.

that's the volunteer fire dept's boat based off of yorktown in FB.

You can expect much more law enforcement attention there now.

why now?

ST

Because like me, they probably did not know that area existed or even had people there.

Just as an aside, the local lake patrol has netted 11 BWI's in the past two weekends. Myself, I don't buy the "It just happened" excuse.

Who didn't know the area existed? The boat operator or law enforcement?

ST

Law enforcement (TP & W) has been going into the Ski Channel as it has been named for as long as I have lived on the island which is 23 years. So yes law enforcement did and does know all about the Ski Channel. They work that channel a lot.
After reading what the boat owner wrote on the other message board, I really can't believe "it Just happened' I'm sure the truth will come out.

I'm going with the boat operator was texting and driving the boat at a high speed.
Very Happy

ST

That is just my opinion ST. The SC have consistently become more crowded over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if this incident acted as a wake up call for other enforcement agencies. Only time will tell. Glad everyone came out of it alright.

I don't know the guy but he is a serious boat builder who has one in the works that is very interesting. This would be one of those times when I am afraid the story would have trouble as we say in my business "on cross". Check out his design.

The only thing I can add is that there are a few very shallow points in the basin. I guess if you want to give the benefit of the doubt perhaps he hit one of those. But it seems to me that the boat was going fast when it hit, but with no one in the boat thats possible. I personally don't see any one going back there drunk on a weekend. I see TPW back there all the time checking everyone. It's usually a vary fun place if you get back in one of the coves, but its crowded, so you have to be ready for that.

I'm just glad no one got hurt.

According to his website, that boat was supposed to run in 2" of water. In the famus words of Al Borland, "I dont think so Tim"
