CLEM'S MARINA!!!!
If you are looking for Spanish...set up towards the T head...you don't have to go all the way down there.
Rig up a popping cork and run your shrimp out there. Just give it a pop every now and then...you don't have to work it hard.
We were using circle hooks, so we were letting the Smacks run a ways before just lifting the rod (not snapping it) to set the hook.
If the water is clear...there may be reds and specks closer to the beach...we could see them feeding, and when I cleaned the reds and specks, they were full of little 2.5-3" long white minnows of some kind in their stomachs.
An option if you cannot find shrimp (I've had success with this) is a lure called a crippled herring...I like the 3/4 and 1 oz. size...just put about 6-12" of single strand on it, and tie it on your line with the smallest swivel you can find...throw it out and then just 'snap it' up and let it fall...unlike a mann o lure, it flutters more and falls slower, and the Smacks whack the daylights out of it.
Good luck,

The macs got bigger and thicker around 10am-11am most of them in the 30" range. 9 people hooked up at once at times. Lots of Big Cobia on the end but no hookups, blue runners were to fast for them....they would just give up. One king Skyed a blue runner. _________________ D. Askew |

I don't doubt it...the only reason we left was we had all we wanted to clean, and when we saw the reds and the trout feeding, we wanted to try our hand at something different.
As for the Cobia cruising around...how come no one threw a big plug or something at them? Aren't those things notorious for being kind of dumb and eating about anything? _________________ Slow and steady wins the race...unless of course, it's an actual race. |

Bighead TFTR, info & pictures. May just inspire me to make the long drive.
My 16 yr old is going to have knee surgery Tues 14th, & we may not be able to do any fishing for quite some time. Would really like to see him smile BIG before surgery.....
Any other info or suggestions, you have for a guy that hardly ever makes it to the coast, mostly because of the long drive?
We have kayaks, Curados, Sedonas & 10-12 lb test if that helps us??? _________________ ROOFISH |

Your gear is just fine, I'm just not so sure how cooperative the weather is going to be this weekend. I've got to go back to New Orleans for my grandmother's memorial service, so I won't be around.
Speaking of her...almost all of my fondest memories of my grandma were fishing with her, my grandpa, my mom and dad, my aunts and uncles...we had a camp out of Port Sulfur, Louisiana...some of the best times of my life...memories that I'll never forget. The best time spent with my family and friends has always been out in the woods or on the water, and it was a GOOD influence on me as a young man.
