I am a 100% disabled Navy Vet and a student of WWII in the Pacific Naval History. My dad served on USS New Orleans CA-32, almost lost him in the battle of Tassafaronga during the Guadacanal time. Bow was blown off the ship by a Japanese torpedo and it blew enough of it off to come within 10 feet of his post office (he was the ship's postal clerk). One of these days I need to meet Ralph and hear some of his stories. If I remember right, his ship was sunk and he spent a long time in a life raft before he was rescued. It would be a great honor to fish with him sometime. Ralph needs to get with the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, TX. They interview and record the stories from WWII Vets. When they are all gone we won't be able to replace them, but we can learn from them!!

God Bless them and all who served in WWII, my dad being one of them in the Phillipines. They are not called the Greatest Generation for nothing. I'm afraid that group of Americans would be pretty disappointed in the country today.
