Grandkids kept telling me, "beach, beach" so we packed them into the truck and mom, dad and grandpa headed to spj.
I carried my inshore pole with me baited with a tequila eel. Water was a real pretty blue. Saw Finsonpins fighting a jack. He started midway on the gulf side and wound up midway on the channel side before losing it.
Next I saw hightide. Talked to him a while. While chatting with him I made a few cast and on thesecond cast hook a jack. Thought I was going to be spooled. He had me down to my mono backing before he spit the hook. Glad he did. I had the excitement of a hook up and 10 min. fight and didn't have to spend too much time away from the kiddos.
Heading back to the beach I got hits from a couple smacks that bit thru my mono. Everyone will be gone by tomorrow am then hopefully it will be jacks on thr fly |

| They put up a heck of a fight, especially on light tackle. |

Nice, i've been waiting to hook up on them this season. Were there clouds of bait on the south side? North packery had dense dark clouds of anchovies yesterday. pods of small smacks were having there way with them. _________________ ...if my boss ever finds this forum I'll be unemployed... |

Thanks for the report Zia. I need to get back out on the surf. Been busy messing with those Big Uglies. _________________ Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says "Oh Crap, he's up!" |
