Water was gorgeous green. Wind was 18mph out of the SE, surf was moderate, with larger rollers coming into the channel as the afternoon wore on. Some floating weed but totally fishable. Jetty had about 30 people on it, most fishing shrimp for sheepshead.
Birds sitting and diving on tiny bait at the mouth of the channel. A nice color change to deep blue about 500 yards off the tip.

The sheepies are pretty picked over right now. Everyone was catching, but the average size was ~10 inches or less. The big pins and pigs were more aggressive than last time, maybe because of the clearer water? We still managed 2 nice goats over 16". We also caught some smacks on spoons. Most were on the small size, but we did have one 24.5" nail a live shrimp. They are there but no real numbers yet, lots and lots of casting and moving around to find them. Saw very few finger mullet, and the only other bait was clouds of little baby fish against the rocks that would get popped by something every now and then. Game wardens checking fish and licenses again. Big spring break crowd on the beach still.

At least you didn't have a boring time and you went home with some fish.

Always great to read reports from the jetties. For some of us old timers, the rocks are a great way to enjoy fishing at the coast and you never know what you might catch. Thanks for the report.
