They need to focus more of their energy on enforcing bag limits and possesion limits. They are all about conservation and I am as well, but seeing people take undersize fish, fishing with no license, throwing trash/beer bottles all over the place, etc... is the REAL problem.

Oh thats the worst. All the morons from the hood come out and trash it on the weekends. I fish there a good bit, and I pick up alot. My aluminum can pile is growing steadily thanks to those people.

Well these guys with these tower boats claiming to look for redfish should be considered to be harrassing the fish. As they burn the shore lines.Very Happy

Usually right about the time you fly the bird at a tower boat burning the shoreline next to ya... Evil or Very Mad

Still curious to see how this one went - bummed I couldn't make it. Surely some of the locals had some input?

it was well attended (25-30 people) but pretty tame....while there was discussion regarding the harassment of fish, pretty much everyone was on the same page....

all issues "passed" so to speak, although no formal votes are taken at scoping meetings....the comments will be taken back to TPWD and likely make it through to public hearing, where again, the public will be invited to provide comments.....then to the Commission, and then set as law in August....

I was interested to learn about TPWD removing the regulation that only allows you to possess one oversized redfish tag at a time....they'll lift that to where you can immediately purchase another oversize redfish tag when you get your license....you can have two tags, in your possession, and use them in the same day....

in addition (might need clarification) the Moderator AND the GW's in attendance were under the impression that the regulation will also change for possession limit regarding the oversized reds.....that they don't count against your daily limit.....oversized reds/tags are IN ADDITION TO....

so if you're on a hot redfish bite, and catch 3 slot reds, and then catch 2 oversized reds, (and tag them immediately as you're supposed to) you could actually retain 5 redfish in one day....

while it's not a huge victory, I'll take it as a sign that TPWD is "giving fish back" to the fisherman, a somewhat of a loosening of the bag limits.....

I like it when the regulators give us fish back.....

Thanks for the report on the meeting Rebecca, but don't let yourself get confused about TP&W giving fish back, the limit hasn't changed any just the ability to purchase that #2 oversize tag early. This move by TP&W can create extra income/operating income sooner. Very Happy

I can't wait until TP&W has a scoping meeting looking for input on Kayak registration. Wink Very Happy
