Did not see this mentioned in the "Yeti vs. other coolers" thread.
http://www.igloocoolers.com/About-Us/Summer-2011-Outdoor-Retailer/OR08-04-2011-1
Billed as a "cold locker" and not just a cooler or ice chest, it is Igloo's entry into the heavy duty market.
I haven't found too many reviews on it yet but based on this short video I like a lot of the features I'm seeing:

Unfortunatley, the price is about on par with other brands in this line. _________________ "Money will buy you a fine dog, but only love can make him wag his tail." - Kinky Friedman

| If you're in the market for a super cooler be prepared to pay a premium for it. |

these are made in Ft Worth and supposedly sell about $100 less than the Yeti brand
no experience with them, just saw a thread on another board. _________________ the creepy uncle that scares the kids.... |

Yall must be young strong men. I can not see the practical use of any of these coolers for day fishing. My coolers, drink and fish box, are in and out of my boat for cleaning of both the fish and boat. All the premium coolers are too damn heavy. I have been out there on the hottest of days and my drinks and fish stay plenty cold with the lighter cheap igloos. Parts are easy to get and if you don't abuse them you can get 5+ years easy out of them. If you are overnighting offshore I can see it but not for day fishing. _________________ Wish I Were in Baffin |

I could be wrong but I think the heavier coolers are for those trips when your 40 miles down pins and plan to stay there for a few days going in for an ice refill wouldn't be.practical. _________________ I like fishies |

SaltyMutt: You would be correct sir.
RL: Longer ice retention would be my goal if I were to purchase one of these.
Another nice feature is that many of these heavy duty coolers have latches that are more complicated and and difficult to open than standard ice chests. This should help deter many of the thieving island racoons. For the ultimate in security many feature the ubility to padlock the lid shut.
If they are certified bear proof they should be 'coon proof too.

I'm starting to use 12 oz frozen soda pop bottles as ice. Last longer and cheaper than buying ice.
On ice topic, I find the ice at the windmill vending machine is small cubes and lasts lots longer than the slushy stuff from the other machine. |

| I use two Yeti boxes for weekend hunts out at our ranch near Cotulla. The cheaper Igloo ones are used for drinks/food etc and we do not open then Yeti's unless we kill something. The ice supply lasts forever and a day. Last year when we had freezing temps we had ice for over 7 days! Well worth the money. |

| I'm with BB. it's hard to find "block ice" anymore. So for longer trips I'll fill gallon containers and freeze them. Block ice just lasts longer. |

I love my yeti to keep fish cold on hot summer days. It can stand direct sunlight at high temps for days. Also, If I drop it out of the truck, fully loaded, nothing will break. (Not that I have ever dropped it lol ) _________________ JJ |
