i just got back from Corpus. Caught 8 keeper trout but had to cut the trip short due to weather. I lost my second pair of Maui Jim's in the Humble. I need to replace them but i have heard good reviews about Costa Del Mar's. Any suggestions on best sunglasses for the Luguna flats? Please be specific as to brand, style, and type/color of lenses. Any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks and happy Easter!

For the laguna, any Costa Del Mar in amber tint is going to be a good choice. As for model, I would suggest trying on different stlyes to see what fits your face right as well as the best coverage. I know that only 2 styles fit my face comfortably.
Next you have a choice of glass or CR 39 lenses. The glass lenses are much more scratch resistant but heavier. They will also shatter, so if you are planning on using them as safety glasses as well, go for the CR 39 lenses. They scratch easier but are much safer and lighter.
Roy's Customer appreciation days would be a great place to get a pair. There is usually a rep there and during the sale you may get a few freebies and a discount as well.

Costa Del Mar

I have had mine replaced now three times. Sat on them once and had one pair just flat wear out after 4 years. For $10 bucks you mail them back, they inspect th damage, and in my case, they have sent me a new pair every time.

Great customer service.

Like TK said Costas are top of the line. Green mirror or amber lense is the best for bay fishing. Frames need to be tried on to see which feels best.

what ever you decide, you may need a good strap to hold them on if you have lost 2 pair in the humble

both times i lost my Maui Jim's i had straps on them. the dang things came apart. Now i am going to either have them on my face or in my pocket!

ive worn alot of different types of polorized glasses.costa del mar are a fine set of eye wear and they are in style for todays fiserman but they are really no better than my maui jims or my polorized prescription with their scratchproof coating.i own a 200.00 pr of costas i keep them for company that visits.i also keep a couple pair of bill dance 10.00 dollar specials on hand. i cant get my prescription in costas beause they have to much curviture in the lenses ,but i can i maui jims with the same polorized coating that everyone uses.i also invest in straps so i dont lose them over board for 3-6 bucks as opposed to deep sixing 200.00 bucks.

You get what you pay for though. I had a pair of Costas and I LOVED em. Wore em every day for years. Now I am waiting on my new pair!

I got my Costa's with prescription in them and they work great for me. Two problems I have had though is I left them in my truck and the frames warped from the heat, sent them back and they replaced them. Second problem I had was I pushed them up on my face and one of the lenses fell out. No idea why. Poped it back in and hope it won't do it again. Fit is great, but still have straps that float on them. At the price I had to pay don't want to take a chance on losing them.

costa del mar --- I have the green mirrored amber glass lenses and they are fantastic for enhancing your vision on the flats. I like the glass for the scratch resistance and they clean up easy. I haven't really noticed the weight difference over my previous pair with cr39 lenses. I actually think the green mirror helps to reduce some of the bright light that gets thru the plain amber/vermillion lenses. I wear mine everyday as my regular sunglasses. I am very happy with them.

I buy the cheap strike king glasses, but I'm not into fashion and the fish don't seem to care. If I lose them or just scratch them up over the years I just spend another $12.

I have bought cheap ones for years, wife surprised me with a pair of Costa Del Mars before my last trip. You get what you pay for, I could see mullet and bait fish moving much more clearly than before. I won't go fishing without them ever again.

Maui Jim & Coasta Del Mar have the best Polarization ( I had a sunglass Rep. explain it to me & we tested Oakleys etc.) WHat ever style you like ... both will work
When I put my Maui's on, Fish and beer are filled with fear!

This question comes up from time to time. Most seem to agree that Costa's are very good. So the real question is if they are worth the price. And that each person has to answer for themselves. Personally, I go with the Strike Kings.
