Hey guys. Just throwing thIs out there. If anyone has the time to ponder this question. Most of all the tournaments here are boat and kayak tournaments. I myself can only fish from the sand or Bhp. Mainly Bob Hall. And we catch almost every species from bhp. Kings, cobia, reds, trout, drum ext. ext. But can never enter. Are there any tournaments that im not aware of besides the STAR that we can enter? Or can incorporate? Thanks, David from BHP. _________________ D. Askew |

Every summer around the second week of July you could fish the Port Aransas Deep Sea Round-up, the grandaddy of all fishing tournaments. It's a two day tournament with lots of catagories and if you feel lucky you can enter the money pots and come out with a tackle box full of cash. I have won many divisions and one year was lucky enough to be the offshore grand champion. Good luck if you feel like competing next summer! |

Just a question, what ever happened to the flag and bumpersticker idea? I thought it would be neat to know if a CF member was on the beach when I passed by. _________________ Stinger-A |

The way they score for the Grand Champion is a little hard to follow the first time you see it, but it boils down to "you have to win or place 2nd in your species category" and then the points awarded to you have to do with the ratio between your catch and that species record for the Deep Sea Roundup.
I know it sounds weird, but just think of it as not having to land the heaviest fish in the Tournament to be able to win. Suppose your spanish mackerel that you landed from BHP was a few ounces over the DSR record, you would get a score of over 100. Now the guy who landed some large amberjack that won that species might be well short of the DSR record, and his score is 75. Guess what, your little SMACK just beat that honking AJ!!
Throw in a pompano or two (all which can be taken from the surf sans a boat), and you have a real shot at winning real $$$.

I really don't understand why you are coming at Tyler so hard about this tournament. He does a lot with this forum and other things. Just because you had the idea of getting a tournament together, doesn't mean everyone has to drop what they are doing and set it up for you! Great idea, however, you are coming on too strong bro! _________________
